Broken Valve spring. Don't know what spring I need. Help
I dont have the specs on the cam so I have no idea what spring I need. I'm pretty sure it's a comp cam kit though. Can I just take some measurements with a vernier caliper to determine what spring I need? I would rather not replace all the springs if I don't have to.

Looks like that was a 986 or 987.
Should have been good to near .600" of lift, if set up properly.
Something is SERIOUSLY messed up.
How much shim is under it? What does the installed height measure with your spring mic?

Installed measure height is 1.850"
But I might have a bigger problem. I rigged up a dial indicator to the push rod to check the lift on my cam. I hope I'm doing something wrong because I got .319" In .330" Ex on #1 and .337" In .339" Ex on #3. I measured it several times and got the same numbers each time. I know from the way the car idles that it has a much bigger cam than that. It has 1.5 ratio rockers and P.O.S 333882 76cc heads. I'm thinking the wrong springs were installed which caused one to break and also to wear out my cam lobes? I definitely have more than .06 clearance when valve is fully open so it's not reaching coil bind. The car seems to have plenty power, at least 350hp.

Does that zip tie trick work pretty well?
I'd measure some of the others... you can always look at the lifters. Some amount of wear is normal but I wouldnt know how much.
