Hp estimation
Hey guys, I've just put together a new motor. Looking for hp estimates.
It's a 350 30 over..
Details are:
Heads: 882 ported and polished (I think 1.94 and 1.50)
Intake: edelbrock performer
Cam: Camshaft, Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 280/280, Lift .480/.480
Carb: 600cfm edelbrock
Pistons: not much info other that being dished with 4 valve reliefs
Headers : 1 5/8 shorties

Hey Mr. Visitor , What's up with the nasty dis of TGO in your sig ? You got NO right lumping the entire site together as folks who take the lazy way out of all repairs and I for one think your a jerk for doing so ! PS , I have NOT cut any holes into my car either , , , Difference is , I don't go acting all superior on the internet about it , like Mr. better than everyone else "visitor" does .
I'd say we got one "visitor" whose worn out his welcome ........ Re: Hp estimation
You sir are most correct in that , to respond to a troll gives the troll just what he's looking for , a rise outta someone . Normally I do ignore such comments as visitor made but to insult the entire site by calling everyone here hacks just couldn't go unmentioned . TGO is by far the best and most informative site for our cars and I really resent someone throwing mud at something like TGO that has helped myself and SO many others .

Thats what I was thinking too about the 882 heads. The guy that built it for me said he just ported and polished.. I was hoping they were not the 76cc ones.

Re: Hp estimation
in stock form I would probably take the 882 head over the 185. The 185s were low end small block heads. Better off getting a set of world products S/R heads new and assembled for 700

Re: Hp estimation
The zz4 block is a good one and they are expensive if this is what you got. then you did decent.

I would not have put in a flat tappet cam considering the block can accept a roller. Also the heads seem like something he had around the shop.
You did not get boned but you may have been able to do better

Re: Hp estimation
FWIW GM engineered these cars to last 10 years or 100,000 miles.
An access panel would have cost more. Same reason why OEM cars normally do not have drain plugs on transmissions and rear ends.. (most people never bother) and when these parts are shot... normally the rest of the car needs repair work anyway.
that being said if the fuel pump fails you drop the tank and replace it.. if you used a good pump it should be good for at least another 100.000 miles.
now if the tank is 20 years old and full of rust and crud that will damage /clog a new pump is short order so you have the tank boiled out or replaced with new at the same time.. either way no need for an access panel.. how often do you need to replace the pump if you do it right?
I never cut my OEM springs.. I did have to my front drag race springs.. (1 coil) but these were "universal fit" some cutting req'd..
A think layer of filler is totally fine... skim coat... show car paint jobs always get s little skim coat of "glaze" while blocking out the primer..
I think that was directed to "bondo barge" where there is more body filler on the car than sheet metal..
still a low class shot .... don't feed the trolls LOL!
