Comp Cams 08-300-8

Hi there, I was looking at replacing my cam and was maybe thinking about this one Comp Cams 08-300-8. Specs Dur@.050. 206/210. Valve lift .450/.480 LSA 112.

My engine - 87' Z28 LG4
Heads - stock 081's (TPI HEADS)
Exhaust - hooker 2055's and 3" hooker cat back
Inlet - stock aluminium intake (pn# 14101047) anyone got info on this?
Carb - rebuilt CCC Rochester
ECU - jet stage 2 chip (not sure how different from stock Z28 chip if any)
Trans - Built 700R4
Stall - about 2000rpm
Diff gears - 2.73 ( changing this would help I know, but it is what it is)

My thoughts were maybe the lift was a bit to high for the 305? Dur seems ok and a 112 LSA also seems ok.

Looking at keeping low to mid range torque I don't care much for revving the **** outa it or wining that 100meter race to the next set of lights.

Anyone used this cam? Any thoughts?

Also looking at upgrading intake to an edelbrock performer, not sure how much a gain that would be over the I have now. Might change rear gears to 3.08 when I rebuild diff but wouldn't go further than that, I like to go cruising and not racing.

Re: Comp Cams 08-300-8

That cam seems well suited to your goals. I had that cam in in an 88 LB9 with 081 heads and the lift was ok in all respects with stock pushrods/rockers/retainers. You still have to check your setup for safety.

Be sure to use the springs that the cam manufacurer recommends.
