Hot fuel filter

What would cause a fuel filter to get hot on an 88 350 tpi? New fuel pump and filter. The filter is in the stock location.

Re: Hot fuel filter

Compressing fluids increases the temperature of the fluid. As it goes through the pump, it will heat up. Basic laws of thermodynamics.

Re: Hot fuel filter

You've also got fuel returning to the tank after it passes through the regulator, picking up engine heat and going back to the tank.

So, it's normal for the filter to get hot?
