Smog diverter valve relocation?
Smog diverter valve relocation?
Hey all, just a few quick questions.
I recently did a full A/C delete on my project. I'm now looking for other ways to get rid of more engine bay clutter. What I'm most curious about atm is the smog diverter valve. Have any of you who have to pass emissions simply relocated it to somewhere else in the engine bay? If so, how did you go about it? And is it still technically illegal/considered tampering with emissions equipment to do so?
Thanks!

Re: Smog diverter valve relocation?
I know that diverter valve is super ugly sitting there over the rocker cover. I don't think it would be practical to relocate it however. You would have to run a hose from the pump to the valve, then to each manifold and the the converter. Your probably going to cause more clutter than you are saving with all that extra plumbing.
Doing this would probably be considered emissions tampering even if it's all still functional. The worst part of this system is that for it's complexity, it really doesn't even do much to lower emissions except when the engine is cold.

Hmm. I had a bad feeling the only practical method was to do a smog pump delete, which just isn't really an option for my application.
Oh well. Still looks significantly better than stock without all the A/C stuff in there! I guess I can still delete the heater control valve at least
