Have 82` Firebird with a 4 cylinder that won`t start?
Ok, so my brother did a tune up on my car, changed spark plugs and wires. It ran really bad then died. We got it back home and saw the wires were in the wrong order. Fixed it and now my car is just keeps trying to turn over, with a dark grey to black exaust. My dad has been a mech. for over 30 years. He is stumped. Please help.

It ran like a charm before. The order is correct. I have a manual and doubled checked. The plugs should be fine. Got spark.

If it ran fine before the tune up then now it doesn't, what does that tell you?
Pull #1 spark plug, turn engine over by hand till it's at TDC compression stroke. Pop the cap off of the distributor, the rotor should be pointing at the area where #1 spark plug wire should be.
If that's ok, then check for spark & fuel. This is all basic stuff.
