87 camaro, wont fire. replaced fuel pump. need help

cannot get my 1987 Camaro to run. one day I jumped in to leave, turned the key, just kept cranking. So then I replaced the fuel pump. still nothing. I even put in a new fuel pump relay and wire harness. still nothing. when I use a jumper wire on the harness, the pump kicks on. when I go to start it the car will start then shut right off. I take away the jumper wire and its back to doing nothing. I have no idea what else to to. I even put in a esc module today hoping that was the problem. still nothing. my car has a 5.7 tpi. any help would be greatly appreciated .

Things to do check for any fuses that are blow including the in-line fuse to the ecm, check spark, remove the spark plug wire from any plug, if no spark go back to the coil and see if you have spark there. if you do have spark check fuel pressure by fuel rail it should be around 47psi if you have both of those things check/ reset timing. any gas car needs three main things fuel spark and timing

Re: 87 camaro, wont fire. replaced fuel pump. need help

Hey everyone, new to this forum thing and hope I get this across good enough to get an answer.
Or if I should do this another way, please...someone let me know

87 Camaro 5.0 TPI, my car is from the showroom drove it for 90K miles before I put it away, took it out a few years ago and would start and run it around, then let it sit for another year.

Now:
Won't start, yes with ether anything will start, but not run.
Checked the fuse on the fire wall near the battery OK
Changed the relay. The one in the middle.
Jumped the "G" terminal. Pump Runs.
Turn the key on, I do not hear the pump run.
Can anyone think of what's next???
Is the oil pressure switch in series, it looks like it is from the diagram.

Oil pressure switch is in parallel...this is not your problem

Put your hand on the Fuel Pump relay, reach inside and turn the key on and off..."feel for the "click".

All that said, with a bit of extended cranking, you should build enough oil pressure to run the pump.

Now with Pin G jumped...did you try to start the car?

I'd also get a fuel pressure gauge.

PS...you should start a new thread

Re: 87 camaro, wont fire. replaced fuel pump. need help

I'll try the to see if the relay clicks, but I tried jumping the G terminal while cranking, but when I turn the key, i can hear the pump shut off.
Fuel gauage was the next item on my list i'll see if PB will "loan" one under their program

If I can figure out how to start a thread, i do it, first time on and clicked around for a while without finding a way to post a new thead.
