IAC cleaning/replacement
I am fairly confident my 305 fi t/a is stalling at low speeds because of the iac. I unplugged it and plugged it back in which remedied it for a little while. Finally it almost died today and the engine suddenly sped up from 250 to 1000 rpm and lurched forward. I cleaned the iac on my volvo which was pretty much a huge motor under the throttle cable. Im not sure how to remove mine from my t/a. At least not a straightforward one.
I have read a lot and watched a handful of videos but still am having issues in removing the iac on this car. To be sure the plug is on the passenger side of the car right at yhe throttle body correct? Any images or videos showing removal?

Re: IAC cleaning/replacement
Unplug the connector.
Takes a large wrench...like 1 1/4 inch, and unscrew it.
Now once apart you want to clean the pintle, and get inside the TB and clean the seat as well...probably be best to get the TB gasket kit, pull it out, take things apart and clean everything.
Word of caution...if you're feeling froggy when the IAC is in your hand, and plug the connector in and have a buddy cycle the key so you can see how it moves...that effer will spring out across the hop and you'll be hunting for parts...ask me how I know

Thanks very much for the advice! Sorry if I sound like an idiot but those screws are underneath it correct? And it just pulls down? Will get a good bottle of tb cleaner since its payday

The IAC is screwed in like a large bolt..maybe with the connector off, you'll see it clearer.
Also spray clean the rod under the spring..I don't even recall anyone using a lube on it, but think a drop or two of 3 in 1 oil couldn't hurt...can't recall what I did with mine.

Re: IAC cleaning/replacement
So getting it out only required hand force with a rag. It was pretty dinged up and probably worked on previously. Cleaned it off with tb cleaner and it fixed stalling momentarily. So I bought a new one on ebay last night as it is nearly unsafe to drive. It runs a little rougher now as well not sure if thats in part my ac now running.
Edit on the new one I do plan to use thread locker incase of it being loose
