Time to build the engine!
Time to build the engine!
Alright guys so Im looking into doing some pretty good engine work right now with my 88' IROCZ, its a 350 tpi!
Im about to be putting a beefy camshaft on it to start and was just wondering what some of you may have in mind for a good project after that? I want to add a good bit of power and Im not to worried about the gas millage. I want to avoid a turbo or supercharger right now so pretty much anything else that will add performance!
Im looking at about a $3000 budget right now and plan to do most of the engine work myself with a buddy of mine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Decent cyl head
Get rid of the tpi look for a converted LT1 intake usually a few hundred
Stock throttle body
Headers/tune may need larger injectors
What cam? Based on your choice may need to regear/more converter
EZ duz it with the street stuff.

THIS IS A MUST DO BEFORE ANYTHING GETS TAKEN APART FOR ANY BUILD.YOU NEED TO KNOW THE CONDITION OF THE ENGINE YOUR PLANNING TO BUILD.COMPRESSION CHECKS OF ALL CYLINDERS AND LEAK DOWN TESTS WILL LEAD YOU INTO WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION FIRST.
Re: Time to build the engine!
And as far as the cam goes, Im looking into getting a Comp Cam with a lift- .487"/.495 and RPM range of 1200 to 5200...Im thinking this will be just enough to give me the satifaction i was looking for.
