Cam selection
Ok so here is my build 355 vortec with compression ratio of 9.6:1 forged bottom end piston rod's with molley rings, stock crank, for heads im using vortec 906 with 2.02 intake valves, 1.60 exhaust the guides have been cut down to allow a cam lift of 500-525 with 1.6 roller rocker. intake is holley stealth ram with LT1 throttle body fuel injectors are running 24 lbs accel's. the block is a non roller style block so i must use a hydraulic flat tappet cam. I called comp cam and they suggests extreme energy cam xe262h14 i was wondering if this cam would put me in the 350 hp range at crank powe

Re: Cam selection
Yeah it should get you near if not over 350 crank hp. Mild cam, good street grind.
Alittle better street strip would be next size up, somewhere near 268xe. Would be 375-400 ish hp.
If heads were ported along with valve upgrade it could make more

Re: Cam selection
ok so my cam came in the mail now im wondering how the heck do you install this thing machine shop wanted 300 bucks to install and set the valve lash but I wanted to learn how to do it myself and save the 300 towards other car parts the motor is out and on a engine stand no front accessories are installed except the harmonic balancer and the timing cover are still on I know these will need to be removed. whats the next step from there do I need a special tool to remove the cam and install it ?????
any info would be great on this
