oil in cyl 4 only

so new motor 355ci with 193 casting heads had to pull the head off due to bent pushrod eating cyl 8 valves.

when i removed the intake i noticed alot of oil inside.
then i removed the head and there was a clean no.4 cylinder staring at me with a puddle of oil around it.

question is. how often do the intake gaskets not seal and suck oil from the valley? all my other cylinders are perfect plugs are find except 4 was fouled.

i had the machin shop replace all the seals just in case but i feel that much oil came from another source.

pcv system seems to be working fine havent noticed excessive pressure (blow by)

As often as, once per intake manifold installation.

It's quite easy to tear the gasket across the bottom while putting it on.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to get some decent heads and get rid of that downgrade to your car.

Re: oil in cyl 4 only

i would put some nice heads but i just dont have the money. i have the stock l98 heads but they need to be gone through. these were fresh heads at a bargan price. i just put everything back together yesterday and im letting it sit up for a day or two.

i used rtv around the intake ports. the machine shop reccomended i do.

Re: oil in cyl 4 only

i read this in another thread

Re: 350 TPI Running Rough and DEFINITELY Rich
If those are TBI heads your timing might be over-advanced because TPI are set at 6BTDC and TBI engines are set at 0BTDC. The heads are the reason for the different base timing settings , not the induction. This could be causing pre-ignition which would make the ECM go into limp-mode which would cause it to add fuel and run like crap.

would this make sense? im running 6* advance. i have a video on my phone with how bad its running now. burns 2gals of gas in about 2 miles.

i was looking at my winaldl readings
o2 is at 256
blm stays at 128 sometimes drops to 108
iac stays at 160 only seen is drop to 154 and ive tried to reset it 4x stays the same.

i really need help. have a new job and need this car up and running asap.

was going to change ecm and iac, just put new wires on and it runs the same. (slightly better)

Re: oil in cyl 4 only

I think, if memory serves, the 193 heads were for 350TBI truck engines, but unsure (don't think), heads are the source of your oil leak into the cylinder.

I don't think timing is an issue...you're fine there.

I think I'd like to know how a fresh engine bent a push rod, on the opposite ends (nearly) of the engine, where a pool of oil would/could cause a hydro lock?...but yet didn't, or did it?

IAC counts seem fine...O2 seems low...but...was that in open or closed loop?...regardless...

What is your issue now?

You started by saying bent push rod, and pulled the heads (...okay...not sure why there)...but now you say "runs the same"...

Kinda confusing to me.

Re: oil in cyl 4 only

removed head to fix a chewed valves from the bent push rod(s) i didnt catch that my rocker arms were non self aligning. thus the bent push rods.

found i my orignial ecm was stuck in limp home mode and was not loading from the prom. found loose ecm grounds on back of head. ne worked loose and burnt on the header.(probably what fried my first ecm. so i fixed all that and got another ecm which turned out to be faulty (used) is would not see cts data correctly and alwasy kicked the driver fan on. was seeing -13.8* yet was turning on the fan.

bought new ecm today. and of course in all this time of the car sitting and waiting the battery decided to take a crap. and someone siphoned all my gas.
