LOOSE CLUTCH PEDAL!!!!!

Bought a 87 iroc-z two months ago, was driving home today and the clutch pedal will move side to side, at first could feel a slight hang up with the pedal then got obviously got worse and looser with more shifts. If I hold the clutch pedal firmer to the right, with my foot, while shifting, it felt more stable, I'm hoping for a loose bolt ?????? Much appreciated to any one with any thoughts to the possible problem. Thank you

Re: LOOSE CLUTCH PEDAL!!!!!

I had the clip that holds the rod to the pedal assembly break, then several shifts later, no clutch at all. slip back on, get a dozen or so more shifts and fall off. Some special plastic clip, tried to get one, ended up just using a simple washer and a 5/16" E-ring

Was this car originally an auto? Might not gave the proper clutch pedal bracing on the pedal assembly.

Re: LOOSE CLUTCH PEDAL!!!!!

The pedal rides on the pivot bolt, via 2 little plastic bushings. They're real thin (probably not more than .030" if even that), grey, maybe an inch in diameter with a sort of flange on the end.

You used to could get them in the Help! aisle at stores that have that. Even AZ. Not sure if they still have them but that's where I'd start looking. Rockauto might be another place to try.

Re: LOOSE CLUTCH PEDAL!!!!!

Thanks gonna check that out as well, it was the 305 5sp, original clutch and break assembly so I'm curious if its the bushings because that's where the clutch moves everywhere.
