Advise/suggestions on 350 TPI Refresh

Morning all
Need some advice on a 88 GTA 5.7 TPI refresh.
Long story short, I'm the original owner, has 192K miles on it, stock, no mods.
I have the typical valve seals issue, puff of smoke on start-up and a rear main small leak. The car I should say runs fantastic with no issues other than what I mentioned.
What I would like to do is pull engine/trans and have it refreshed, bored .30 over, mild cam, add headers, keep the AIR tubes and upgrade the exhaust, have the trans gone through.........that's it. No turbo's,blowers, superchargers, or LS1 swaps. Keep it simple.

My questions are
1. What headers (short/long)and Y pipe? Was think'n the Hooker's.
2. Mild Cam to work without reprogram.

I have the Bosch 3's from South Bay and the 9th injector delete and prom reprogram from Tuned Performance, K&N and a Flowmaster.

Any recommendations are appreciated!
Thanks and Happy 4th!
Bob

Wow......57 views in 5 days and nobody can help.

But if I was doing something stupid like making a CAMSTANG, you'd be all over it.

Thanks, I'll figure it out

Just be thankful you're not getting awful advice. I think nobody is answering because those questions have been asked a billion times. The info is on the site, just gotta find it!

I'll bite.Find the machine to freshen motor with new pistons and rods. Reuse crank if cleans up well. Refresh heads. Get guide boss cut down for new seals and more lift. Put in a good spring package.
Mild cam like comp 501-502 would suffice or lunati voodoo roller of equivalent duration. If looking for a shelf grind.
Cheaper would be zz4 take out.

Have it retuned. Enjoy

Headers, hooker 2055's are nice smog legals but collectors should be opened up to 2.25"

Thanks Orr. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Also, I believe I SHOULD install screw in rocker studs with the ZZ4 cam? Seems to me anyway....

Yes its usually 130-150 bucks of work to have studs installed. You may not need them since the zz4 is mild enough to not require alot of spring pressure but its always a good idea. You take it that far might as well get screw ins

Orr, agree. Just get it done. I don't want to worry about it. I'm fortunate to have a pretty good budget with this as its not my DD and time/space is really not an issue. I'll check for a new zz4 package and springs and such from GM Performance.
My biggest thing is actually pulling the trigger to get started due to the fact that it runs and drives fine now, but its time. I hate oil leaks and not fond of the smoke on start-up!

If you buy new then could go either way zz4 or one of the milder comp or lunati grinds, etc. zz4 you can find used for cheap which is why its so popular. Crate guys swap them all the time
