another rough idle post

So I have been chasing a rough idle problem with my 88 GTA 305 TPI for some time. Just last week my ICM went and left me on side of road, put the original GM one back in and she fired right up, damn japo parts

When i replaced the ICM I also replaced the TPS, had a code 22, but fixed when i set correctly using my multi meter

Now when i start it it runs real rough, wants to stall, smells real rich, if i unplug the MAF and start it the SES light comes on and the car idles fine around 1200, and no more rich smell

Just want to make sure before I invest in a new MAF, that it is the cause as I dont have a code for it or for anything, any other way to tell?

Also why would the ICM fail, I replaced it last fall b4 putting away for winter, maybe drove 1000KM this year and the ICM failed again, i used the supplied grease stuff, just my luck or?

Re: another rough idle post

By "ICM" are you referring to the HEI switching module in the distributor? If so, what ignition coil is being used? High current in the coil primary can shorten the life of the HEI module.
