Hard start 87 trans am

I searched the forums and couldn't find any thing on my topic so decided to start one! My 87 trans am gta when sitting over night and I want to start it in the morning I have to crank it twice for it to start. But when it gets up to temp it fires up like a baby. What's the problem? I think it's a fuel problem but I could be wrong and also I did take off the throttle body before but never set the TPS. Could that be athe problem too?

Re: Hard start 87 trans am

Fuel is bleeding back into the tank, most likely. Put a FP gague on it, fire it up, shut it off and watch the gague. The fuel system SHOULD hold pressure for a good long time (hours). Yours probably isn't. If you find that's the case, the problem is in the tank and may not be worth the effort unless you want to replace/upgrade the fuel pump while you're in there.

I have a fuel pressure gauge installed in the car. I think it have 60 psi of fuel started but never watched it after shutoff. I'll do it tomorrow
