Idol Problem

I have a 1988 IROC 5.7. Pulled some codes off it that read low fuel pump voltage, MAF Sensor and Electrical timing. I replaced fuel pump last year and had the timing set by a mechanic. I just replaced the MAF sensor today. The problem I keep getting is when the car warms up and I come to a stop and idol it stalls. Starts back up and runs fine when driving but will keep stalling at stop lights and stop signs if I don't feed it sone fuel. Please help ?

Re: Idol Problem

Thanks. That's my next step. I know it has a burn off relay and a MAF power supply relay, I am pretty sure they are both the same. If you ask the parts store they have no ideal what either one is. They have it listed just as the MAF relay. Going buy two of them and replace them to see if it helps. But I have a feeling it has something to do with the electrical timing code which I know nothing about. Thanks.

no, the relays are NOT the same part number. best bet is to go to your local chevy dealer and have them give you the original relay part numbers. that way you can cross the numbers at anywhere else but auto zone or advance. I recommend BWD select available at your local oreilleys. and while im on the subject. MAFs are expensive, mine cost $450 or so. but I got a NEW one ,not that "cardone" Chinese POS. look into a company "rich-porter". the trick is to buy a new one and be done.it is an amazing difference when you get it right, both in performance and economy. good luck, and let us know how it went.

Re: Idol Problem

I bought the MAF sensor yesterday from O'Reillys and I installed it. It was $156.00 after I retuned my core for $46.00. It is a remanufactured BWD. A new one was around $250.00. I will check into the relays. Thanks.

Re: Idol Problem

a re man MAF is a really bad idea. look on here and you will find examples of what happens when you buy one. I have found that "cardone" is the one who does all of the re man MAFs.and they do it in china. other stores re label them as their own. you DO get what you pay for, and you shouldn't shoot yourself in the foot buying ANYTHING that comes from "cardone"/china. my personal experience with all this bad MAF BS. taught me a lesson. im happy to share my knowledge on the subject to anyone who will listen. good luck.
