What's this part called?
Talk about being in the right place at the right time...
I was at one of the shops that has worked on my Camaro in the past to get his assessment of the new clutch. He (the owner) was driving, I was riding shotgun when, as he was doing some hard shifting going down the road, there was a loud "clunk" (I thought we had run over something) coming from the area of the left rear tire (I then thought it was a rear shock giving out). As we continued down the road, the clunking continued and he drove as slowly as he could, got back to his shop, waited for one of the bays to be available, hoisted it up and he found a broken bracket (and missing screw that secures it) located under the engine/transmission which secured in place what he described as the "mount on the Transmission tail housing holding the stabilizer bar". He didn't know the exact nomenclature or terminology of this particular part but he was able to replace the missing screw and so far it's held up.
I want to look around and see if I can find this part if I know what to call it.
Hope that describes it sufficiently.
If you know the part, any suggestions on where I might get one?
Thanks!

Re: What's this part called?
I Googled and found this pic which sure looks like the part as I remember it as he tried (successfully it seems) to put it all back together.

There was some 31 year old rubber bushing or gaskets that fell out during the "operation" so I presume that will all be included with the replacement whenever and wherever I finish my research on a vendor.
Thanks again!

Re: What's this part called?
No problem.
There are a couple different bushing styles for these cars with no rhyme or reason on which went in which car. If yours are bad be prepared to have to get new ones to install on the replacement mount if you happen to get the wrong style. Keep yours for comparison and pics sent to the vendor of them is a good idea.

Re: What's this part called?
Just to follow-up....
I shopped around and, on a whim, decided to call my local Reilly Auto Parts store. I gave the description to the sales guy, he looked it up, and surprise, surprise...they actually have the part in stock (PN 2394)....$6.29. They call it an Anchor Transmission Mount.
Called mechanic who did the repair this morning and he was as surprised as I was and told me to "get the part and I'll pop it in".
btw...there was no charge for the work he did this morning and he won't charge me to install the new part (he has a large pizza on the way for him and his crew this Friday).
Hope all goes according to plan and the replacement does the job and I no longer have this issue on my agenda.

Still Need Help Guys
Still Need Help Guys
Thanks again to Joe Tag for his input, but unfortunately, after picking up the part from Reilly's, turns out it's not the part I need.
See this illustration below (that I got from the 1982-1992 Camaro Repair Guide posted by member ryn28 in this forum on 9-9-2012) and the bracket I have circled in red. This is the bracket and shows exactly where it's located.

If anyone can help by answering:
1- What is the name of this bracket (e.g.: what do I order)?
2-What is the GM Part Number (Reilly's says if I have that they might be able to cross-check and see if they carry the part).
3-Where might I get one, either from a salvage, eBay, or better yet, new (once I have the above info, I can do this research as well)?
I believe the "arm" that it's attached to or holds in place is called the Suspension Control Arm or Lower Control Arm or Torque Arm, not entirely sure.

Pretty sure this is it:
(I remember they tried hard to get that one bolt they had in the shop attached (apparently the original one had fallen out and was the main reason for the fail, but finally they did):

Here's a pic of the part I got from Reilly's which is an Anchor "Transmission Mount" PN 2394 so it's not what I need:

It's Friday night, not much is going to get done until next week, so hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have the information I need to get this part and replace the kluge holding everything in place at the moment.
If I can add any more information or description as I continue my research, I'll post back.
Keep in mind, we're talking 1983 Sport Coupe, 5-Liter V8, 305cid, 5-speed manual transmission
(I understand there could be a difference from one Camaro year/model to the next).

Re: What's this part called?
I've a suggestion, how about you go to the shop, take some pics with the car on the rack, I'm sure many members will be able to tell you what is missing.
I/e right now you have the whole TA mount circled......but seems that's not what you need?
Edit:
May get better luck in the suspension/chassis forum')

Re: What's this part called?
Sorry if that illustration doesn't clearly show what I need. Please refer to the pic above under the title "Pretty sure this is it". I wasn't allowed under the rack while they did their thing (OSHA work place violation thing) but I was able to see from afar and am basing this on what I noted during the repair operation.
Yes, if no joy by Monday, I was already planning to ask for some rack time and take some pics that I can post at a later time. I fear imposing too much on the shop, interfering with other paid-for customer's jobs in queue, and wearing out my welcome, so there's that.
Specifically though, it's the bracket that the engine end of the Torque Arm (#8 in the illustration) attaches to that's right under the transmission and has a single, large bolt to secure it.

Re: What's this part called?
Searching shows that 82-83 are different than 84+, even on top of the 84+ "lips to the inside vs outside" difference.
Google "Camaro torque arm bushing" (Firebird & Camaro are interchangeable).
Energy Suspension and Prothane appear to be interchangeable too!
You can shop at Summit, Jegs and EBay.
Edit:
More searching found 83-specific links:
$14.63 for EnergySuspension.
$14 for the red Energy Suspension bushing at Summit.
A short thread recommending ES for the 83 specific bushing.
