Thoughts are welcome about 350 build
As my 350 got some knock in the camshaft area and I don't drive my Firebird in winter anyway, I am thinking about engine rebuild with some performance modifications. Of course I have limited budget, so all the parts I need should be best bang for the buck.
At the moment I have late non roller 2 bolt main block from truck. I have thought about the combo above:
Stock block overbored to .030
Stock crank and connection rods
Hi comp cast pistons (recommendations are welcome, fair price wins)
Procomp/Speedmaster 190 cc heads, custom valvejob and Elgin valves (good experiences with these)
Comp Cams XE276HR cam
Retrofit roller lifters (recommend some - seem to be pretty expensive, but probably worth it)
Comp Cams stamped roller tip rockers (just have these from another engine)
New valve springs (what rate should I buy, different vendors seem to have different recommendations for xe276)
Victor Jr or Torker II intake (I just have both sitting on the shelf)
Speedmaster throttle body
8 injectors spraying directly to modified intake runners
Megasquirt 2 ECM
Custom CAI
Engine would be used mostly on street and occationally on strip. Would change the torque converter and rear end gearing accordingly. Any comments are welcome. Probably I would stick to those much loved/hated Speedmaster heads because these would be the cheapest ones to ship to Estonia, but all other parts are just some thoughts at the moment.
