melted pcv hose to manifold

Replaced my pcv yesterday which caused a serious vacuum leak. Checked and the hose had cracke . Went to pull off the hose and the part that connects to the block and found it melted on there. So I bought a hose just bigger than the new pcv hose and fit it snuggly over the one on the engine and the new hose as a quick but successful fix any tips on removing the hose still on the engine? I used vice grips and pliers and only pulled apart little bits

Try to get in there with a pocket knife and cut it off.

Re: melted pcv hose to manifold

What the heck could be so hot on the top of the engine that it welded a PCV hose to itself?

Inquiring minds want to know! (Pic?)

FYI- Almost all GM stuff uses a nothing-special 3/8" hose size.
