Whole car vibrates on braking

Recently pulled the transmission out of the 89 RS to see if the massive oil leak was coming from the rear main seal. Ended up replacing the cam seal and oil pan. I have 2 questions about this job.

1) I bought an aftermarket oil pan and oil pan seal, and on filling the motor with oil, there was a significant leak where the pan edge dips around the main seal. Is there a problem with aftermarket pans? The gasket I received was a big rubber one that was similar to the one pulled out. did I just install wrong or make a mistae by using aftermarket parts?

2) The car stopped smoothly before that job. Now the whole car shudders on braking. I lifted the front end of the car to check for warped rotors and they are OK. I don't feel the shuddering in the brake pedal so much as in the whole car. What could that be caused by?

Thanks in Advance,

John

When you are braking does the tach dip very low? Does this happen when you are coasting? Any difference between very light braking and moderate braking?
