need some advise
Okay I brought a 87 iroc not running from a friend blown head gasket. He recently brought the car last year.Okay so the engine was built in 09! the guy gave us and binder full of paper and want all been replaced and parts in the car kinda cool! Back to the motor been bored 40 over, has forged pistons, dart alum heads, crane cam 2032,1.5 roller tip rockers, comp cam roller lifters ect ec.Now the question last I heard the motor run every lifter rockers was raising hell and blown head gaskets.since the motor been rebuilt only has maybe 60-80k on rebuild.Should I pull the motor and redo everything or replace everything on the top end? Thanks guy

Blew a gasket so head is coming off. If it were me I'd go as far as pulling the motor. Pull both heads and take a look. Maybe check bearings.

Well I thought the engine was seized.couldn't turn it with a breaker bar didn't really put that much pressure on it either. But I put a battery in it and it turn over.I started the engine for a few secs lifters was noisy took the valve covers off and a few was loose like almost coming off the push rod loose. But I also notice the head look dry like it getting no oil on top.The gauge said 30lbs but running very low rpm and only for a few secs.thinking about changing the oil and draining the water and see if I can get the top end to quiet down.So I can decided on what to do with the motor! Pull it or do a top end rebuild.I know for sure the transmission is good just been rebuilt lol.

80k on a rebuild is quite a few miles. especially if the previous owner has a heavy foot. I would def try to find out why the gasket blew. (block not flat/head not flat, ect) If you have the top apart you might as well look at the bottom. plastic gauge is cheep insurance and really really easy to use. I too would go threw and inspect everything. good luck!
