Planning my dream
Planning my dream
Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but if not I'm sure someone will tell me.
Ok, so back in '01 I bought my first (and currently only) Firebird, and it was everything a muscle care should be to a 20 y/o kid. Sadly I had to give it up after the wife and kids came along. But I've decided I want to get another one, and I wanted to plan it out beforehand so I'm not stumbling along during the build. I want to start with a 91 or 92 with T-tops. That much I know, but I had a few questions I hoped you guys might be able to help me with.
My research shows I can use an LS1 coupled with a T-56 without any trouble. Is this accurate, and is there a better pairing I should use?
How difficult would it be to use the interior (seats, console, possibly dash and steering wheel) from a 4th gen? I like the smooth lines and think it would look good.
What size/configuration subwoofer should I use and where do I put it? I know there's not a lot of "trunk" space (ha! That's funny) and a standard woofer box won't work.
That's about it. Any input would be great. Thanks.

What you're asking is something many people have done... but it's not a simple days worth of work. You either need to know what you're doing, or you need scrilla $$$. The transplant isn't hard, but it does take time. It's somewhat time consuming and EXPENSIVE provided you get a decent setup and aren't finding a unicorn setup for $50 like you see everyone claim. You'll be in it fairly deep if you plan on swapping things correctly and fixing stuff as you drop things in. If you want it enough you'll find a way to make it happen.

Re: Planning my dream
I would just look for a 2000-2002 forth gen Camaro with the LS motor and 6 speed. Honestly after the money and work its going to be very expensive. There is also a lot of supporting mods that you have not thought about like suspension, brakes, chassis upgrades. The 4th gen has all the parts you want on it. I love my 3rd gen but if I was going to go through all the work of doing an LS swap and 6 speed it would be in something older like a 69 Chevelle or 55 Chevy step side truck.
