305 TPI fuel injector firing order

so... I finally got new fuel injectors in and was plugging everything up when I realized that the fuel injectors have to fire in a specific order and idiot me didn't think to label the leads as I was taking them off. so, my dilemma right now is that I don't know of a way to know which lead needs to go to which injector. does anyone have any ideas with this? it's been quite a few months and I'd love to have my car running again.

Thank you for any kind and/or harsh words that you guys might have.

It's not a SEFI system like used on modern vehicles or even in the Grand National back in the day. Its a batch-fired system. All the lefts fire, then all the rights.

wow, I had no idea. I also don't understand how that could work considering each cylander should be on a different stroke on each side, right? so that would mean one of them is getting fuel on the exhaust stroke, right? that sounds like a terrible idea.

All 8 fire at once.

While there are two, the injector drivers in the ECM are joined.

Yes, all 8 fire at the same time. And yes, injector sometimes fires on exhaust stroke. But then the intake valve opens and sucks in the mixture. It is a crude injection method. Especially compared to DFI today, where the charge is not only timed, but "shaped" depending on the conditions.

Re: 305 TPI fuel injector firing order

alright, so I got all of my injectors plugged in, got the phlem back on and bolted up, now I've got a couple of vacuum hoses that don't seem to go anywhere. also have a hose from the master cylinder and what I think is the purge canister (is that what it's called?) that I have no idea where they were supposed to go. see pictures below.

Outlined hoses in question for your convenience.

Brake booster goes to the rear/underside of the plenum. The other one in the top pic, if it's the canister line it should go to the throttle body.

Top one on bottom picture goes to your maf sensor (which is that thing with the green plug on it. The middle one in that photo looks like the vac line that goes from the egr solenoid to the egr valve. And the bottom one goes to your heater control valve.

Re: 305 TPI fuel injector firing order

are you sure the bottom one on the bottom picture goes to the heater control valve? there's another vacuum hose that actually fit on there that I've got connected, this one didn't seem to want to go.

Edit: I've got all the vacuum hoses into their correct places except for the longest one in the bottom picture. I don't think that one goes to the heater control valve because there's a straight vacuum hose (instead of a 90 degree) that went perfectly to it. assuming that this 90 degree one pictures is the one that goes to the heater control valve, I will need to know where the straight one goes. beyond that I've gotten everything put back together, but unfortunately I have a leaking fuel injector. it seems that when I installed the fuel rail, it jacked up the o-ring and the ring that holds the o-ring. they got stuck in the fuel rail, but I managed to get them out. so, until I get the new injectors in, everything is on hold
