My car is surging under load and cold.

Warms up it does almost 98% fine with just a hint of surging/hesitation/bucking under load? Definitely a night and day difference between cold and warm driving.

I have changed the fuel pump and fuel filter. I then checked injector resistance and got 17 for each one. From what I read that is good for these cars right?

Was going to change plugs, wires, cap, and rotor but decided to take to mechanic to diagnose. Mechanic calls and says he checked plugs, wires, cap, and rotor and all are good. He checked injectors and they ohm out at 14. I thought that was still within spec, correct?

Not sure why the difference in resistance measurements between me and him. I am using Harbor Freight equipment for my measurements though.

So is 14 bad enough to change injectors?

 

Contact southbay08 tell them tuned sent you, those are all just esp if they are multec. 18.5-17 would be the lowest no more than 1/2 ohm difference. 14 May shut the driver down.

 

Thanks Tuned, will contact southbay now. So with my symptoms and the 14 ohm reading you think injectors are definitely worth changing? Is there a way to tell if the are Multec?

 

If the body of the injector is a grey color they are multecs at 14 ohms I wouldn't even second guess buying injectors.

 

I checked 2 things.

I called the mechanic and asked them if they ohmed the injectors hot or cold and they said they warmed the car up first.

Thats exactly what I did when I checked. Mechanic got 14 I got 17 ohms.

The body of the injector looks orange it looks to me.

On one side it has FORD then FOTE-D5B. The letter A is opposite the FORD on the other side of the silver pin you see in the picture.



and

on the other side it has
what looks like G27 (on the area that jets out for the plug, then J280 150 556. Over the 556 is the number 968.



The car is a LB9 as far as I know it is stock except for a BBK throttle body and a MSD coil.

 

They are not multecs, they're 19lb bosch yellow top injectors. It is a little unusual for those injectors to have any problems however anything can happen.
14 ohms is just about right for those injectors.. give or take.
