looking at another fbody

So still plugging away at my 87 hard top with digital dash lt1 swap. However I'm always browsing the internet for trans ams because I just love them and yesterday I found an 86 trans am t top 5 speed with carbed 305. The interior is in really rough shape and it needs a new rf fender or the old one fixed. So I talked to the guy over the phone and he said the underneath is solid. I have a big soft spot for t tops and manual cars so I'm thinking about picking this one up as well. My only issue is if the wife throws a fit when I bring it home. So it got me thinking which one I would want to get rid of if it came to that. The 87 trans am hard top with digital dash or the 86 t top 5 speed. So which one would be better off long run. Obviously if the 86 is a factory l69 5 speed it's not going anywhere but besides that what do you all think.

Don't ask me. My driveway is full because I love a good deal on a firebird that needs work.
I have 9 cars right now, not all firebirds.

I may be wrong but I was pretty sure there were no t/a or Firebirds with a 5 speed in 86? Possible swap? I know for sure they didn't put 350s in that year, not sure about the tranny though.

I too always look at cars on craigslist when I have time. That's how I got such a steal on my current bird. And I like looking at ridiculous people asking for 10k over blue book on newer cars lol

Re: looking at another fbody

its definitely a factory 5 speed car. anyways i ended you getting it. It pretty much needs both doors, fenders hood and trunk swapped out since they are banged up but the rear quarters only have one little blemish on the passenger side im sure a body guy can fix. My issue is that my wife was unhappy about having two in the garage so now i have to get rid of one. My thoughts are to take all the good parts off the hard top i have i.e the seats and carpet, hood trunk fenders and doors and put them in the t-top since i would rather have the t top 5 speed over a hard top with digital dash. Then when i am ready to put the LT1 in ill just get a gforce case for the t5 and put the LT1 in place of the 305. Thoughts?
