Engine rebuilt first start procedures

I have a rebuilt 350 strokes out to a 383 with aluminum 2.02/1.60 64cc heads going to be running around 10.5 CR and the roller can it has in it is a lunatti .535/.550 231/239 @.050 110LSA 1.5 roller rockers and a holley stealth ram intake sitting on top. I also bought a new HEI distributor and new coil pack and ignition box. My main questions are what I need to do to have this motor tuned correctly to be able to start up and run. I'm not sure if I need to flash my ecu with a tune for all the upgrades the new motor will have or if I will be able to atleast get it running with the way the ecu was programmed from the factory and then work from there. This is my first engine build please be easy on me if you think I am uneducated in this subject I'm trying to learn. If there are any other tips I could get when putting the engine back in the car and steps to getting it running I would appreciate it. Thanks guys

Re: Engine rebuilt first start procedures

if it was an old school carbureted engine, i'd say to set the timing as close to about 15 btdc as you can, fill the fuel bowl, pump the gas a couple of times, and hit the key..

but since there is a computer involved, i'd say you need to get a chip for the engine, and i'll just assume it's fuel injected and say that you need to get injectors that match the airflow capabilities of the engine..

regarding break in: the roller cam means you don't need to worry about that, so just get it running and look for leaks and funny noises... once that checks out, find an open stretch of road where you can get it going as fast as it will go in first gear and let off the gas to let the engine brake the car down to about 10mph, and do that again a few more times... this creates a vacuum in the combustion chambers that pulls the rings out to the cylinder wall and beds them in..

Yes it's fuel injected and yes I have the fuel injectors necessary for the set up I am running. So since I have a computer you think I will need a custom chip? Does anybody know where I would look for one or if somebody could help me out with getting one?
