Rear Oil Galley Plugs Threading In Too Far?

In the process of blueprinting my stroker motor and am having a bit of an odd issue.

I bought a set of 4 stainless steel 1/4" NPT pipe plugs. I thought, "Great. I can use 3 on the oil galleys at the rear of the block and the remaining plug on the hole down by the oil filter". The main (middle) galley plug goes in fine as does the one by the filter. The two plugs on the lifter galleys though thread in way too far and partially block the feed holes.

By "Too far", I'm talking at least 1/2" of exposed threads before the plug tightens up and stops turning. I shined a flashlight into the block at the distributor gear opening and found that the plug was restricting about half of the feed hole passage coming off the oil pump. The driver side galley I don't have this convenience however the thread depth is the same deal so I know it is doing the same thing.

I'm not having any problems with the front plugs because I tapped them myself and made sure the plug depth was appropriate and didn't block the feed holes. But I find it odd that with the factory threading at the REAR of the block they're going in too far.

Anyone have any input? Funky plugs, or something else?

Never mind I figured it out. The factory 1/4 drive NPT plug I removed from the China wall threaded in perfect and stopped with no exposed threads.

Looks like the plugs I bought were simply cut too small.

Smh...

If you want "no-stick", get brass ones at the hardware store.

Tap out the 3 in the front of the block to the same size (¼" pipe); get 3 more; drill about a #70 hole in 2 of them; and put those in the ones beside the cam. DON'T drill the one on top of the cam journal.
