Oil leak - not sure how to trouble shoot

hey guys

Here's a video of the leak after one hour sitting.

Any ideas what I should do? Can I use that fluid you can put in the oil to stop it?

Degrease and wash it. When dry, start it up and look for the trail. Hard to tell in the video but it could be near the rear of the engine, leading to being the back of the intake manifold is leaking, valve cover(s) leaking or rear main leaking. Valve covers are the most common to leak.

Looks like dripping down off the bellhousing and could be anywhere on back of engine. I would pull the bellhousing inspection cover and look at the flywheel. If a bad rear main seal oil would creep along the crank and into the bellhousing to cover the flywheel. If flywheel dry then its dripping down the back of engine and more likely the rear of intake or the vlv covers.

If u can clean up the engine like others mentioned u can try the old white flour trick. With a clean block u can toss white flour all over it and observe for leaks after running the car.

Yup, clean it up first. Kinda hard to find an oil leak when it's buried under 6" of .... oil.

Likely suspects (hint: places to clean) include valve cover gaskets (clean the heads and other stuff right below them), intake "china wall", and oil pressure sending unit (clean under the distributor to spot both of those)

Re: Oil leak - not sure how to trouble shoot

before you go pulling out an engine or dropping a transmission check the valve cover gaskets near the rear. and as previously said take off bell housing inspection plate and check in there. Check easy to access parts first (valve covers) followed by more difficult to check parts (oil pan gasket then rear main seal).
