Huge nut! Where does this go?

So I had to jack the car up to get under there and disconnect my exhaust from my manifolds and found this sucker on the ground near the front driver's side wheel. Kind of concerns me before I take it on it's maiden drive.

What the hell could this go to?

Lower Controls Arms under the front springs, while '68 above may be closer.

Pan hard bar?? I spent so much time learning the engine I don't know much about the underside. I would guess there should be one just like it on the other side?

Re: Huge nut! Where does this go?

the only nut on the whole car that looks anything like the one in the pic is the one that holds the Pitman arm onto the steering box. but this looks too thick for even that. the one that holds the u joint flange to the pinion gear on the rear end looks similar, but slightly different.

i'd say that it was on the ground when you parked there.

Huge nut! Where does this go?

Yup it's from the pitman arm. Those arms are pressed on very yight. Just put the nut back on and tighten it good.
