Heavy rotating assembly?

Does eagle ESP H-Beam rods and Speed pro "power forged" pistons qualify as a rediculously heavy rotating assembly?
It should see 6k rpms

The rods qualify as complete overkill for a 6000 ROM motor, unless there's some heavy nitrous or SC use involved. Other than that, that stuff is about stock weight, not too out of line, but not exactly a winning race setup either.

I'll be hitting some NoS in the future. Might go blown some day (not being built that way though). I just bent the f00k out of a rod in my 305 so I'm kinda paranoid, its worth it for the piece of mind, but not if the rod's going to be to heavy and be counterproductive

Then it's not too far out of line. For a street motor with the occasional blast of juice at the track that you want to live a long time, a bottom end like that should be fine, with an entry-level sort of forged crank and good hardware everywhere.

I-beams: 260
H-Beams: 350

I figure that difference is worth it when a rebuild because of a bent rod will be $500 in machine work, and god knows how much in parts

depends on piston weight

The main stress on rods is bc the weight of the piston. Since most 350s can live a 6000+ with stock rods and pistons, if you reduce weight the slightest bit, you will improve rod life significantly.

Get a good quality 4340 I beam and that will take care of most issues.

Is the eagle "SIR" a good quality I-beam?

The pistons weighs 601grams

From what I'm gathering thats anywhere from 90-100grams over the average (maybe nonforged) piston?

ouch...

yep, but i don't think they are 4340metal

I think they use 5140 metal. I also like to use an I beam with a capscrew rod bolt instead of a bolt-nut.

600 is probably close to the weight of the factory piston. I would try to find something lighter. Get rid of the 140 gram pin also, you should be able to find one in the 100-120 gram range.

well I believe these are some of the better forged (for the price) pistons, anything else would be ROSS JE WEISCO TRICKFLOW etc.... and i surely can't afford those.

So its heavy forged or light hyper :|
