1987 Iroc-z28 Wont Crank/Start
Okay guys so this will be my first post. I hope you can help. I have a 1987 Iroc-z28 T-top that i just purchased from someone. Got it for a steal even IF im going to have to get the engine swapped. When i got the car he said he thinks the engine is seized however he clearly didnt know what he was talking about since he didnt even think there was a timing chain on the vehicle. Anyways, the story behind it is that it randomly cut off while he was driving and didnt even make a sound. Leading me to think it could be an electrical problem. However come to find out it didnt have any oil in it. Im hoping he didnt blow the heads or seize the engine. Since it cut off with no noise it leads me to think its electrical. It doesnt make even a clicking noise when trying to turn it over however all of the blinkers, hazards, radio etc still works fine. Ive done some research on these type of problems leading me to think it could be a fusible link by the starter or the solenoid has gone bad. But that wouldnt make it cut off like that would it? Any ideas? 88k miles.

Can you turn the engine by hand? If it is not seized up, it should move if even only a little. As far as the no noise when you turn the key, do you have 12 volts at the large terminal on the starter and do you get 12 volts on the purple wire (small terminal on solenoid) when you turn the key to "start" position?

I have tried turning the crank with a regular size socket wrench and it wouldnt budge. My step dad helping me said its not going to be that easy to turn since we didnt take the spark plugs out an only have a mini wrench. But yeah i have a volt meter or whatever you call them, im going to try to test all wires down by the starter tomorrow. I tested the fuses today and there is two blown however im pretty sure that wouldnt make too much of a difference would it? Not sure what the other one was but i think one was the "cbx" fuse. Other one was a 10 volt.

I put the car in drive (its a automatic) and pushed it and it went. Does this conclude the engine isnt seized? Cant find the answer anywhere online
