I installed a new cat. I am pretty sure it just covered up a problem. I did all the sensor checks and reset the iac, the rough idle smoothed up some but was still there a little. Put thenew cat on and it runs like a champ. Why would a cat make a car run better? The old cat was gutted if that makes a difference.
