Airtex MAF doesn't look like the Bosch unit on the car..did I get the wrong one?

Hello!

I just got a new MAF from rockauto AIRTEX / WELLS 5S2640, opened it up and the internals are completely different from the Bosch that was on it. The thin wires are replaced with a circuit board and a couple fins that I assume sense the flow...did I get the wrong unit or is this the new tech version?

Excellent info in there, some posts seems to suggest you have use the airtex wells unit with an 86+ but others do not, will the 86 ecm be able to use the output signal from the wells unit?

My '86 still has the Wells MAF with no problems. The 1986-UP MAF uses an analog voltage (0-5V) output signal whereas the 1985 unit uses a digital (FM) signal. I've done a few TPI conversions through the years and used the Wells MAF without failure. These are a couple:

That's great news! I will start looking other places to solve my current problem then, I was afraid it was the wrong MAF causing it. Thanks again man, I think you have helped me out more than a few times on here!
