FIRST intake cam\head advice

So I'm going the FIRT injection route on my 92 Camaro and have a question about which cam\heads I should get.

I found a set of AFR 195's milled down to a 58cc combustion chamber. Should I get these heads or look for another set that are 65cc chamber? I'm fairly positive that my bottom end is stock but i'm not sure what my compression is at this point.

As for cam I would like something that makes good power and torque. I want it to be streetable with a little bit of lope, nothing crazy. I currently have a ZZ4 cam in my car now and didn't know if this would be a good fit for the new intake and heads. Car will not see track but maybe once or twice to get my et's. I'm hoping for 320-350whp and at least 375rwtq

Are my expectations too high for this set up? Thanks

Re: FIRST intake cam\head advice

I assume your engine is a 350. I will also guess 5ccs in valve relief in the piston. Let's also assume you will target "optimum quench" of .035-.045" piston to head clearance... or "in the hole" measurement + head gasket. Without decking the block, the factory piston should be about .025" in the hole. Add a .015 shim head gasket, and you are at .040". Or 0 deck + a .035 or .045 gasket puts you at about the same place.
Add the 58cc heads and run that through a compression calculator... and you get 11:1, which is much too high for a ZZ4 or streetable cam. Going with 64cc heads takes you to 10.25:1, better, but still may be a touch too high. If the pistons are 12cc, SCR comes down to 9.5:1, best of this bunch, but your engine could tolerate more.

If you want to plan a great build, plan to measure everything.

Re: FIRST intake cam\head advice

Assuming you have flattops with 5cc reliefs, 64cc ALUMINUM heads would be ideal with the ZZ4 cam. That cam runs fine on 9.5:1 SCR (8.0 DCR) with iron Vortecs on 87 octane fuel. I would want AT LEAST 10:1 SCR with that cam and Aluminum heads. 10.25:1 would give you lots of tuning margin with 93 octane.
Those 58cc heads would require a cam with specs about like this: 230/236/112+5 to run on 93 octane pump fuel.

So stock l98 pistons have 12cc of volume? Do these look like the stockers?

Those are considered flattops. With that large outer edge chamfer, you can figure about 6 to 7 cc's volume.

Is there a way to know the cc's for sure without taking the piston out and measuring it?

No need to remove and measure. Just use 6cc for those shown in your pics.
