Hey everyone, I'm new to this but I just rescently bought my second 92 Camaro with the V6 3.1L and the car was running good and then one night it started acting up and sputtering and then it cut out and died going down the road. The fuel gauge was at 1/4 tank but it ended up being empty, so I put gas in the car and the car just cranked and cranked. We sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it wanted to go but never did. I let it sit for about an hour and it fired right up. I got it home and it will do the same thing. Sitting for awhile, it will start and when I drive it it wants to cut out under power. I checked the fuel pressure and I got 44 and I let it sit with the key off and I dropped to 28. Any ideas?

Noticed this is your post, welcome to the forum. Take a moment and complete your profile so you don't have to keep telling us what vehicle you have. The ICM, ignition control module, comes to mind. Have it tested at your local auto parts store. Ohm your injectors and make sure your diaphragm in your FPR, fuel pressure regulator, is not ruptured and bleeding fuel. Also, check if you have any CEL codes. Let us know what you find. Good luck.

 

Ok I will have to check on those items, the fuel pressure doesn't seem like an issue? I have heard that the fuel pumps in these cars are known to go bad. I'm hoping it is something simple. I have only driven this car 3 times �� When I bought it, it was sitting for a couple years.
