89 Camaro 305 TPI warm start issue
Hello All,
I have a stock 89 IROC-Z Camaro with a 305 TPI engine.
For the most part it runs ok and starts fine when it is cold.
If the car warms up and then I shut it done it doesn't start again.
It just turns over and will continue to do so till the battery dies.
I found a post on-line referencing the same issue and they unplugged and plug back in the relay and their car started fine.
They replaced the relay and all was good.
This is the fuel injector relay in the engine compartment on the drivers side.
So I tried this. When I unplug/plug in the fuel injector relay the car will start right up. Hooray.
So I replaced this relay and it still does not start when warm.
At least I have work around for when I get stuck at the store .
Other things I have done:
Nothing made a difference.
Any suggestions on my next steps?
Thanks for any help,
TT

Other things I have done:
- replaced spark plugs
- replaced spark plug cables
- replaced cap and rotor
- replaced MAF
- tested for spark
- tested that there was fuel getting to injectors
- had timing checked
- reset the ECM
- replaced the ECM
Nothing made a difference.
Any suggestions on my next steps?

check the ohms on the injectors when they are cold and warm. When the stock multecs have coil issues, they have a tendency to fail when they are warm

Thanks for the reply.
I thought about the injectors but I couldn't understand why would disconnecting the relay work if the injectors are still hot from running.
Thanks,
TT

you need a DVOM to check the injectors . the ICM can be removed and most auto parts stores can test it for you . but make them test it several times in succession , because they usually fail when hot

Re: 89 Camaro 305 TPI warm start issue
So it turns out I need 3 fuel injectors, per my mechanic.
When the car warms up these 3 injector fail preventing the car from starting.
Pulling the relay resets them so the car can start again.
Any suggestions on which injectors I should get?
I am gonna need to work with my friend to replace them (all) as it will cost to much to pay someone to do it.
Thanks again.
