Re: What do these numbers mean?
Looks to be the casting numbers that tell you what year and size the block is.

Re: What do these numbers mean?
09 = Sept.
10 = 10th day
UKT = suffix code that tells most of the info... Double check your code. No such code as UKT.
However there is a UHT which the H and K could be confused easily.
UHT = 1981, 350, van/bus with auto trans, L Vin code, LS9 RPO code, 165 HP, 4bbl carb, C-10 & 1500 chassis

Re: What do these numbers mean?
Your welcome. Can you get the casting number off the rear driver side of block, on the flange that trans bolts up too, behind driver head

Re: What do these numbers mean?
Those aren't "casting" numbers. They're "stamping" ones.
You have a block they tell you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHATSOEVER about the block, other than, AT BEST, how many CID it was built with. Which since you can take the same block and build any number of CIDs in it by using different cranks, is only useful to the extent that it tells you what CID the block you have CAME WITH.
But since it's a small block Chevy, that means that every part that was ever made for it, fits right into it. So even though your stampings might tell you "165 HP van", it MIGHT be a 650 HP race motor NOW. Or conversely, the stampings might tell you it's a "LT-1" out of a 71 "Z/28", but it might be a 8:1 compression turd with 76cc smogger heads and some generic 929 cam copy in it, and might NOW be only capable of 150 HP.
Most likely though, the truth is somewhere in between both of those extremes. But maybe not... no way to know, just from the stamping numbers.
In a word therefore, those numbers tell you NOTHING.
The first string tells you what the original setup was (sounds like, lowest possible HP 350 in a "fleet" van) and the second string is part of the VIN of the vehicle it was installed in.
IOW, tells you ABSOULTELY NOT ONE SINGLE USEFUL THING WHATSOEVER about what the motor is NOW, except that it has a 4" bore which is about 99.9999% likely to be in some overbore. (4.030", 4.040", 4.060") Tells you NOTHING about what pistons are in it today, what heads are on top of it today, what cam has been slid into it as of today, and so forth. Just altogether not a useful thing to research.
