Value of Car

Hello..I hope I am in the right spot.

I am trying to determine my cars worth for sale and wanted some input. It is a 1991 Pontiac Trans Am with the 5.7 liter / Auto combination. Car is completely immaculate inside and out and all original. Glossy red paint with black cloth interior. Again, mint except for a 3 inch light scratch and a pea size ding on roof. Car has (4) new 245 /50R16 tires, Brakes, Battery, inspection, etc. The car is mechanically perfect and has a light tint on the windows. I live in the suburbs of PA. Car has 83K miles but looks like it has 83 miles on it.

I wanted to get $8,500.00 but a friend of mine said no way. I have used your board a few times over the years and you have all been helpful. Any input would be great on value. Also, where would you recommend posting it ?

Thanks...

im in the same kinda boat. i have an 88 iroc with a brand new 350 crate motor, and lots of new parts. i have dumped a ton of money in it about 7000, probably more, and i am have trouble selling it for 5,200. id even take 4500 if someone offered but no one seems interested even though the car is clean and fast. my prayer is that someone hits me and i get insurance money, then ill buy it back and part it to make more. good luck with your sale.

dp149, I'll bet a dealer would sell your car for at least $8,500, probably more, and get it.

The problem is, in my opinion, people who buy cars from other people are looking for a deal . Add a struggling economy into the mix and its suddenly a buyers market.

It’s doubtful you’ll find someone willing to pay $8500; the mileage is too high for that price. I’d probably ask between $6-7k, sit on that price for awhile and, if no interest is generated and you need to sell, drop down to the high $5k range.

yeah no way you will get 8,500 for it, probley the 4-5,000$ range is more realistic.

Your car is propbably worth 7k but now way a public to public sale is going to bring you that money. I would think you could get 5k out of it. Put it one ebay or in the paper for $5500 and just use the $500 as cushin area.
Ive been offered $6000 for my camaro 2 years ago I should have taken it but I have more than that invested.
