Need help identifying a relay

The car is an 86 with a carb. I found a loose relay sitting by the battery (pass side, front of engine compartment) in really bad condition and was wondering what it is for. KOEO the blue and grey each had power to them but the other wires did not. It does have a part number of 14078907, which does come up with a similar looking relay. I tried looking at some of the autozone wiring diagrams but they don't seem to show any relays with all of that color wiring. Any help identifying what this relay is for would be appreciated. I did attach a picture

Re: Need help identifying a relay

Are you sure it is a carb? 86s didn't have carbs, at least according to Wikipedia (I know, not necessarily the most reliable source). Is it a TBI setup? It looks a lot like a carb, but has 2 fuel injectors sitting on top of it. If it is actually a carb, then it would be aftermarket, and that could be an unused relay from the old system that was in the car. Possibly fuel pump or MAF relay

Re: Need help identifying a relay

Carb was available in 86.

TBI didn't appear in these cars until 88.

(Speaking strictly as someone who WAS THERE, don't need Wikipedia for that)

Wiring & plug look factory-ish; the colors don't tell me what it is though.

Camaro or Firebird? What motor?

The definitely did my neighbor has an 86 that came factory carbed. That PN was used on a variety of systems including
AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) Electrical. Computer Control Sensors. Fuel Pump. Throttle Control.
ANy chance you are having issues with one of those?

Its a firebird with a 305. Air con isn't hooked up anymore. It runs and drives but was starving for gas a bit, but definitely had a clogged fuel filter. Haven't really run it enough to determine any major problems with the CCC

Re: Need help identifying a relay

Any possibility it has to do with the headlights? (Camaro wouldn't need a relay for that)

I know the headlights, high beams, turn signals, and brake lights all worked the one time I tested them. I'll try and find that wiring diagram and see if that's it, that would make sense given its location

Re: Need help identifying a relay

Now that I went back and looked at the engine wiring diagram, it looks like its the throttle kicker relay

Re: Need help identifying a relay

Headlights in a Bird need a relay to tell them to go up and down.

AFAIK there's no "throttle kicker relay". In any case there are too many wires for that and the one that would go to the solenoid (dk grn) isn't there. So I doubt it's that.

Interesting. The diagram I was looking at did show a throttle kicker relay, and it looks like its the same wiring. From left to right in my first picture, blue, black, pink/black, brown/white, and green is the right colors for the wiring on the diagram. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to cut apart the wire loom to trace some wires but it looks like that's what I'm going to have to do
