Pissed Off !
I swear this **** pisses me off when I look at an engine that is run by more computers than damn microsoft corporation and I am puzzled on what to do to it to fix it. What happened to the days of the good old carb and nothin but motor in the engine bay and enough room to get inside the bay to work on it? Now its a spider web of wires and regulators, injectors, sensors that control exhaust, intake, fuel, and all that other junk that basically robs that home grown powerplant from power. I wish it would just be like when my dad had is 396 Chevelle and his 426 Hemi Cornet, it was just a turn here a twist there a couple bolts here and you were makin over 400 horses. Now you need a $300 sensor a $4000 fuel injection system $200-$300 computer chip it makes me sick, if you want to make an engine to put over 350 horse today you friggin need to be a millionaire pratically. The government has totally taken control of the auto industry since they destroyed the muscle car era in the late 70s with all these bull**** emission laws and junk. They now limit what automakers can build because of emission standards and blah blah blah all they government bull****. What about f#ckin factories that pump out millions of tons of pollutants into the air everyday, oil spills, toxic waste, nuclear reactors, coal burning all the sh#t that is destroying the enviornment everyday. But when it comes to the hobby blue collar gearheads...."no fu#k them let them only build cars that put the cleanest air back into the atomosphere let them make engines that actually filter our air hahahaahah (congress)" They are making it so hard for us to keep muscle cars alive giving tax incentives to automakers that produce ultra low emission engines such as electric engines, 4 bangers, and restricted v6 and v8. Sooner or later the death of the v8 will be upon us and we will be able to do nothin to stop it. Its already taken place with consumers buying more fuel efficient cars and automakers finding more ways to make smaller engines put out more power which I dont like, oh yeah and the death of rear wheel drive cars. I know your saying that this guy dont know **** what about Chevy SSR and new Camaro and Firebird, H2, Dodge Hemi Concept, Mustang Cobra, Mercury Marauder, Viper, Vette. Think about it, these cars only put out minimal horsepower numbers to a muscle car nut and only top class workers will be able to afford them when in the 60s and 70s a average joe at 18 years of age could afford a 400 horse beast and had many choices to choose from. Can you see now that muscle cars will be no more when automakers find out these cars arent selling because no one can afford them then they will say ok I guess no one wnats v8s anymore lets build some 4 bangers or sixes thats what they want. I think v8 muscle will only exist in trucks in the future because of the towing duties it can perform for work but who knows it may be replaced by a 4 banger too. I could go on for hours but Ill stop before I punch a hole in my screen their must be a way to bring back the affordable muscle era we need to start protesting this **** and start giving the idea to automakers and the government that consumers want big v8s, race ready production cars, carbs Fu#k computers, just like in the 60s and 70s!

Ya man, you said it! Me too!!! Hey check out my web page.
Although, it wouldn't be that bad to just have fuel injection but the smog **** and the EGR **** and the A.I.R. **** just aint workin for me!

Damn straight!
Really. Its all a buch of BS. The hole in the Ozone is still getting bigger yea airosole hair spay made that sucker
I do agree that we should stop polutants but at what cost? Im not going to cruise a bike to work in the dead of winter or summer (15 miles one way) Im especially not going to go on call (avrage 100+ mile round trips every other day) and no way am I gonna drive an electric car with the acceleration of a 2 1/2 briggs and sratton go kart especailly since the power plant producing power for that electric car is producing more pollutants in 6 months than the combined members of this message boards cars for 1 year. I wouldent mind using alternative fuels especially ones that dont require an induction change like straight methanol. Whats worse than anything is the generation now will be in charge soon and thier/our heads have been bombarded with BS about how gas guzzling cars kill the enviroment. Oh yea and trucks are next they used to make little shinok motor homes with little nissan 4 bangers in them that pulled fairly well its consivable with the proper gearing that in the future we could see super duty trucks with 4 bangers also.
It stinks, It stinks, it stinks!

computer controled stuff is abosolute trash, i would never own a fuel injected car or really any car made past 81' (well allright i'll let the GN, TTA and 98-02' T/A's slide
) im all with the good ol' big engine, slap on a carb cam 3 wires and burn the tires off with little $$$, messing with fuel injected cars is VERY expensive with minimal results. i read on here alot of people doing all kinds of mods to there FI cars with just bare minimal resulats where in a carbed car that would be much larger gains. really if you want the ease and dollor for dollor best value in performance, look BACK in time where the power is, not the newer stuff.

I like the computer controlled stuff. But I see where you are coming from. I grew up on cars all being computer controlled. My first car was computer controlled, and I'm sure my last car will be too. It's just what you used to. Give me carb and I get scared. I think, "this is not enuf stuff to make an engine work! Where's all the doohickeys and thingamajigs!"

Well, the obvious thing is... We are the government. Too often we just want to be left alone to do our thing instead of making it a point to let the bozo's know what we think. What makes me laugh is the apparent "brain increase" you get when becoming a representative for our government. All of a sudden - they're all friggin experts that CANNOT be told otherwise, no matter the facts proving it.
Environmentalists never sleep. They have mastered the art of appearing bigger than they are, especially with the help of the media. "Mad scientists" take a grain of truth, blow it out of proportion, and create a media frenzy - which is what the media loves, it sells papers and television time. Do you ever hear about the fact that the last volcano to explode sent something like ten times more pollutants* into the atmosphere than all of the vehicles on the planet EVER - TO DATE...? Nope. You won't hear that. At least not from the mainstream.
*By "pollutants" I mean the things that cars are extremely regulated for... Maybe we should outlaw volcano's exploding.
Anyways, until we get off of our asses and do something this kind of lame crap will continue. By the way, I have nothing against computer controlled stuff. Yeah, it can make it difficult to work on things, but actually, it's just something else to learn. Look at the new LS1 - that is some serious engineering no matter what you say.
