Watch this Enginemasters where they see how much nitrous a S T O C K pistoned and gapped 305 can take before it explodes ....spoiler alert it made 358 HP on a 268h equipped carbd motor , 557 hp with a 150 shot, 620 hp with a 250 shot and grenaded it with a 300 shot .... ate a piston - rings etc .

Yeah, I watched that when it first came out and was amazed at the numbers that 305 put out to start with.

Friend of mine had the 268 cam in his 86 LB9 car and it hauled butt for a 305. Car had gears, headers, etc also. People always argued he had a 350 I would of like to seen what it turned on the track. Ran a very similar Herberts cam on a vortec build myself and was extremely happy with it.

That 268H is an old grind and kind of panned by younger guys but in a decent equipped 350 it puts out 400 hp ........ For a milder cam that's pretty damx impressive with such a manageable idle for the street etc.....

A agree sootie007.
I don't know if it has been updated any over the years or not, but my best friend put a 268 in his SBC c1982. Ran pretty darned well for a high school car.

I ran one in a 10:1 compression 350 I put in a 1979 Monza and it was a ton of fun!

Re: 348 hp carb'd 305 combo on nitrous
I ran an old Comp 270 in a 350 I had in a '75 Camaro with a 4-speed and 3.73s, it was a 224-224-110, the idle was never good, I had that Holley tuned by 5 different pros, but it made 350 real HP on the engine dyno with bowl-blended Torquers. 64 cc on dished stock pistons.
Modern heads might get it to 400 HP, IDK, but my buddy tried Sportsman 2 heads and the 230-230-110 cam and barely reached 407 HP.
I'm more interested in how this 372-horse 305 dropped to 348-horses with no change of cam. Probably switched from the RPM AirGap to a single-plane on the excuse of more equal fuel distribution.
