what should my base timing be set at with the following mods?
not a real number but set it to where you get knock counts o nthe scanner then back it off a couple of degrees and recheck it. if it runs with out knock leave it there. if you're wanting to maxamize preformance you could do this along with making passes down a drag strip and setting the timing for best et, but a lot of other factors come into play, like traction. some people will say to set it using a vacumn gauge to reach the highest reading, but i'm not sure that is the best way to do it. most SBCs run good with 36* total advanve in them.

Set the distributer to 6° and leave it there. You can't ajust total timing under the hood in a TPI car, you must do it in the prom(computer).
