How to remove turn-signal cam

I need to replace the collar on my steering collumn, thanks to the theives who stole it. Anyway, I've got most things apart now, but it looks like I can't remove the collar unless the turn cam was out of the way. Do I have to unplug it from the base of the collumn, and run it up? HOW?

Well it really depends on how far into the column you need to go. But if the thieves have done the usual and busted the main upper column housing, you will need to remove the turn signal switch from the column and than install it back through the new housing. Basically you will have to remove everything down to the turn signal switch, than remove the TS switch itself, since it is fed through that housing and the housing is one piece, by disconnecting the connector near the base of the column under the dash and pulling the switch and its wiring up through the column. Than remove the broken housing and install the new housing and reinstall the TS switch through the new housing and reinstall the rest of the column componants. You will want to use some mechanics wire tied to the end of the wiring harness of the TS switch that will stay in place when you pull it out so that you can pull it back in through the new housing with the mechanics wire. If you don't use the wire trick you will have a bi*ch of a time getting the wiring harness of the TS switch down through the column.

Hope that helps some.
Good Luck!!
