What is this?

Looking at an '89 Formula 350 with the original 5.7L in the car and found this under the hood. My 89 GTA with the same motor did not have this. It is bypassed but what is it?
Thanks

Re: What is this?

Looks like they've removed the coolant control valve, and inserted an elbow in it's place.

Re: What is this?

Thanks. I wound up buying the car. It'll be home next weekend.

Now I need to figure out if I need this part and what is missing. I want the car back to original so I'll be looking to make this right. It's the only odd-ball thing I found under the hood. No idea why it was changed. Thanks.

Re: What is this?

Your large circle has both the A.I.R. diverter valve, and what looks like a coolant flush kit.

Not sure what the hose is in back with the brass plug in your other circle. Where does it go?

Re: What is this?

Not sure where the hose goes with the brass plug. I will pick the car up this weekend and will dig in further once I get it home. I am a pure stock guy so I just want to get it back to original looking. The rest of the car is bone stock and in very good shape.
Thanks.
