Non thirdgen Ramjet 350 Motor
Non thirdgen Ramjet 350 Motor
I have a quick question. A buddy is looking at getting a RamJet for a 82 Chevy 4x4. Shortbed with 37 inch tires. Tranny is a turbo 350 until he gets his 700R4. Does the Ramjet have enough low Rpm torque to push Him around OK? The Other Motor He is considering Is the 350 HO Deluxe. The 350 Deluxe makes almost as much power as the Ramjet and is 1500 Dollars Less. Is it worth is To go with the RamJet.
Thanks For letting me sneak in this Nonthidgen Question

Austin,
I don't have the HP and torque curves on the RJ350, but I'd suspect you'd get a little better low end and mid-range torque with the RJ350 than a standard 350 with a carbed induction system (unless you used the Offy intake with the long runners). On the other hand, the extra $1500 could probably be better spent on lower gears and a stout driveshaft, and the carbed 350 would work well in that case, allowing for the higher RPM operation wher it is likely more comfortable.
