up side down pistons..
So i bought a motor off a friend of mine. it was in his pulling truck. i decided to pull the heads. Found out the pistons are up side down.
if i go to 64cc heads will i have issues with the valves?
Can i either just spin the rod 180 or do i need to just spin the piston? here are the specs.
miles less then 2k
58 cc heads shaved 020
forged 2 valves relief pistons
eagle rotating assembly.

From what that photo shows, it's about impossible to tell.
Got one that shows one whole bank?

It kind of looks like the valves have kissed the pistons a bit to me.
Anyone else see those marks in the pistons where the valve reliefs should be??

Re: up side down pistons..
You can't just flip the rods, unless they were installed backwards,
which is why the pistons are upside-down. This would be your
luckiest option. Fix it right - now.
If you are using a hydraulic flat-tappet camshaft, very carefully inspect
the lobes and lifter bases. It might already be too late.
You are lucky that any valve locks did not come loose and a cylinder
did not suck a valve into the engine.
You will also have to inspect the crank fillets and rod bearings.
The bigger chamfer in the big end of the connecting rod goes
toward those fillets (or, smaller chamfers go together at the center
of the rod journals).

Re: up side down pistons..
So the pistons were installed correctly to the rods???
And yes, they were absolutely upside down.
