Spring in collumn that locks steering wheel...

I am replacing the collar in my steering wheel, because of it being broken by theft. The little spring that works the rod to lock the steering wheel, how does it hook up? I know it bolts in at the bottom, and the top raps around the locking rod, but what gives it the tension to make that locking rod work? Pics would be great!

Excellent pic Vader, yet I did manage to figure it out before your reply. BIG problem now, as I was reassembling it, something came loose. I was just ready to put on the horn button, and clip it with the lock ring, and something slipped inside, and now the center shaft moves up/down and side/side. I removed the bearings, regreased, and put back in, but its still loose. What happened???

this happen to me too, it was easy to fix, just temporarily bolt the steering wheel on and pull on it while trying to center the shaft.

You make it sound like the shaft got bumped in to far and slipped out of something. Don't know, but thanks, I'll try it. Won't get a chance to work on it again until Saturday probably.
