Stalled on highway !

My '88 iroc 305 tpi stock, purchased a new project, got it started and running, seems to run fine at idle, drove the eight miles to the interstate, as I pulled onto interstate from a stop I had to baby the throttle to get it up to speed I reached 70 and as I started to go uphill it stalled out with foot on the gas it backfired and rolled to a stop. If I remember right I had dtc 13 for sure and either 34 or 36 (maf). Question is do either of these codes have anything to do with it running fine then backfiring and stalling after reaching high speed? I'm new here and this is first post. Thanks

Or does this sound like more of an ignition or other issue. I'm going to track down those codes and get diagnosing on them first I just wanted a little advice before I leave this weekend to attack the car since its out of town.

Low fuel pressure is an issue. Fix the leak, see if that solves your issue.

Yeah it drove great for awhile after fixing 02 sensor (which was keeping it Rom going into closed loop) and cleaning maf. But then It must of sprung a leak while changing plugs/wires. Now I have to figure out how to fix the metal hose leak. Fun car though

Re: Stalled on highway !

Yeah its the fuel supply line. I need to replace the rusted 5 inch section near the fitting that feeds into the rubber section that feeds into the fuel rail on a tpi under master cylinder . I'm hoping I can cut near the fitting and at the end of the rusted area and make the rubber hose stretch to reach when spliced and repaired using a compression fitting. If that don't work I'll have to find a repair section of line with that special flare on it and use it to connect with compression fitting. Then there is the "fuel injection rubber hose " repair option but I wonder if the line has to be flared to use that too. Obviously I don't have a flare tool and am cheaply trying to fix this small leak as a repair for now until I can get a new line. Any thoughts?

Re: Stalled on highway !

Could you rent a flare tool from your local parts store?

Re: Stalled on highway !

Only one store in town had the correct replacement eel with proper flare at end. Only rental tool was a double flare. I needed Saginaw flare (o ring at the end). Got it done thanks though.
