Re: what did you do to your thirdgen today?
Last year I replaced both window motors. PS window was fine, but the DS seemed to want to bog down about 2/3 of the way up. Marked all the adjustments, but apparently they were wrong. Started over and got it all adjusted properly. PITA....but...it works great now!

Finished my valve cover replacement today. Used ProForm black crinkle, cast aluminum and the Chevy logo engraved and painted red. I used the Fel-Pro silicone gasket you have to stretch over the VC before you install it. I was worried it would fall off as I pried on that damn harness but it did not.

Re: what did you do to your thirdgen today?
yesterday I replaced the vacuum canister that I broke the vacuum nipple off of a couple months ago as well as put on a front ground effect thats in better condition than the one that was on the car.
I then went to put on a thirdgen non airbag wheel to replace the 1978 Trans am wheel the P.O put on but ran into an issue with the horn. the 78 wheel pushes down on the horn cam canceller thing while the new wheel needs a special wire to connect the two. anyone ever ran into this?

I painted rims black, painted spiller black, took off passenger side fender to fix the lower mount as previous owner had crushed it and it rotted, making the fender bulge out a lot. It's now lined up. Just need to finish sanding and painting where the door molding use to be and the body is some what set!
cant seem to find the right Arctic white for my car; its a 91.

I bought new bolts for my ground effect and went to install nd they don't fit. are the body bolts specialty? I decided to not be dumb so I got out my calipers and measured the original bolt that was left in the remains of the ground effect. its 6mmx28mm body screw. I'm searching but not finding 6x28 but 6x25 seems to be the most common size. I'm going to order 30 fro $8 and will go from there.

Re: what did you do to your thirdgen today?
Thank You! I have taken a lot of time over the past 2 yrs, cleaning and painting the little stuff. That is the original engine and has never been out of the car. I made a series of cleaning brushes of different sizes that I attached to wood dowels. I was able to get in those small areas and clean the 25+ yrs of dirt and grime.

battery AND overheating? what a $hit day. battery is nothing. can really only be a couple of things. the overheating is a pain. I just dealt with it myself. I ended up with 2 new freeze plugs, water pump, hoses, thermostat, and finally a radiator. good news is my car no longer overheats and I wont have to worry about any of that for years to come. good luck. let us know what sup when you diagnoses.

Nice job on the heater core
I got home dead tired and fixed my fan to run with key ON, also troubleshooted alt a little bit. Even if she needs a jump start tomorrow she won't be overheating

I received the body bolts to install the front ground effect and the new i.a.c plug. so these will go on today. woot woot. I really hope the i.a.c plug soothes out the idle.

I got out today and installed my front p.s. ground effect. I couldn't get the bolts to screw into the speed nuts. I ran to the parts store with seconds to spare before they closed. I need to back each bolt out one at a time and add a little thread lock. I had a part vibrate off my motorcycle last week and now I'm paranoid.

I noticed today that there is a spot on my frame where the tire rubs when its turned all the way. I plan to go back to stock wheels in the future so I'm not too worried about it right now.

I put some draglites on my firebird a while back and they look pretty sweet. After I do some body mods I plan on dipping them black and doing a matte red vinyl wrap on the car with some matte black graphics. The mock ups so far look WICKED.

I kind of like the wheel tire combo that's on the car now. the tires are big and fat but if they don't fit they don't fit.

When I bought my car it had S10 Extreme wheels on it that just looked god awful so the first chance I got to replace them I did. Don't miss them one bit.

Re: what did you do to your thirdgen today?
soldered on a new i.a.c plug to replace the broken one. I then started looking at the hi speed fan issue. nothing looked burnt but I did see that the hi speed relay locking clip was broken. i went and bought a new one and when I pulled the relay off it had a ton of grease in it. like the p.o had broken the relay clip then put some grease in it to keep it plugged in . there was also some disintegrated electric tape. I get that this wasn't his favorite car. it was clearly neglected but to half *** simple stuff that keeps the car from working is dumb. I installed the and relay and now have hi speed. I'm going to have to either replace the hi speed relay plug or find some way to epoxy a locking clip back on. I strapped it down with a couple of zip ties for the time being. its gonna be nice to have hi speed a/c tomorrow. it gets hot here.

my gas cap has been leaking. I meant to replace it a while ago and kept forgetting. I filled my tank Friday and on the way home gas spilled down the side of my car. enough was enough. I bought the replacement and when I swapped them out I found out what the problem was.. HONDA MOTOR COMPANY!

Re: what did you do to your thirdgen today?
does the third gen have a gas light? if it does mine doesn't work. I ran my car out of gas right at the gas station. I was the first car in the left turn lane that would have let me pull right in the 7/11 and the car died. I had to leave the car at the light while every one honked. did I mention it was 5:30 and the traffic was crazy? 7/11 did have one gallon gas cans for $14.99!! i put a buck of gas in it and walked back over to the car. by this time there was 15 cars behind me that had missed 3 lights. they were so pissed. i put the gas in and started the car and pulled into the gas station and all is well. $14.99!! for a gas can! are you serious? what jerks! love my firebird though.

Thought basically all day about the '89 Iroc that I'm taking delivery of tomorrow. 10 AM. Then it's gonna sit in storage for about 6 weeks, until I get another vacation & get it registered.
