Head bolt Sealant?

I cannot find the teflon head bolt sealant where I am here and need to put my engine back together quick. You guys think it would be allright if I just use non hardening silicon. The stuff I have isn't effected by fuels, antifreeze, oils, etc?

I would not personally - try to find some hylomar.

its blue and I don't know what its made out of.

when you think about how tough silicon is to get off of intake bolts and oil pan surfaces, I would not want to think how you would get it out of a head bolt hole (other than hottank).

I've read not to use silicone sealers.

I always use teflon thread sealant, nothing else. (Loktite PST with teflon )

#2 permatex will work fine. But if you have to buy it you might as well buy some PST (pipe sealant with teflon) both loctite and permatex make PST. I wouldnt recommend regular silicone.

i think about any non hardening sealer would work, teflon, permatex, retroseal, about any pipe sealer as long as they can stand a little heat and they wouldn't be exposed to that much. i wouldn't use RTV or any silicone typr sealers.

ARP makes great thread sealant, get some of their moly lube for the head bolt washers too. Summit, Jeg's, etc. all sell it.
